Getting Started with Autoregulation

Learn how autoregulation can help you make consistent progress by adapting to your daily performance.

Autoregulation is a training approach that adapts to your day-to-day performance rather than following a rigid plan. Instead of forcing yourself to hit specific numbers every session, autoregulation lets you adjust based on how you feel and perform.

Why Autoregulation Works

Most training programs assume you’ll perform the same way every session. But the reality is:

  • Some days you’re stronger
  • Some days you’re more fatigued
  • Recovery varies day to day
  • Life stress affects performance

Autoregulation accounts for these variables by adjusting your training load based on your actual performance, not what a spreadsheet says you should do.

How It Works in Practice

With autoregulation, you work within rep ranges rather than exact numbers. For example:

  • Target: 8-10 reps
  • If you hit 10 reps: Weight increases next session
  • If you hit 8 reps: Weight stays the same, build reps
  • If you hit 7 reps: Weight stays the same, focus on form

This approach prevents you from grinding through bad sessions and allows you to capitalize on good days.

The MyoFactor Approach

MyoFactor uses a modified double progression system that automatically adjusts based on your performance. You just show up and lift—the app handles the progression decisions.

No spreadsheets. No guesswork. Just consistent, sustainable progress.
